Max Payne 3 Overview

Nine years after the events of Max Payne 2, Max has still not recovered from the loss of his wife and new born daughter – drowning his sorrows at bars and in painkillers. In Max Payne 3, Max has retired from the NYPD and is now working as Private Security for the Branco Family in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The plot begins with “Fabiana, the wife of Rodrigo” one of the three brothers of the Branco Family – is being kidnapped by a street gang called Comando Sombra and they demand a ransom for her release but the deal goes haywire as they lose both the ransom money and the girl. The game is a third-person shooter, developed and published by Rockstar Games – the company known for their very successful GTA series. Max Payne 1 & 2 revolved around the concept of bullet time, a mechanism that slows down time and allowed Max to shoot while performing diving stunts. This mechanism is incorporated into Max Payne 3 as well, along with a new cover system that is now common to this genre. The other unique feature of the series was the “Comic Strip” cutscenes, however in Max Payne 3 the “comic blocks” are now Animated, giving a more next gen approach to this feature.
